Legal
Terms of Service
Summary
- Oursi is a private, authenticated service for accepted one-to-one text conversations. You need a Google account to sign in.
- You must use the Service lawfully, protect your account, respect other people, and not use Oursi for harmful, unlawful, or emergency communications.
- You keep ownership of your messages, but give us the limited permission needed to host, transmit, secure, and operate them for the Service.
- Oursi is not end-to-end encrypted, does not promise uninterrupted or error-free delivery, and does not replace emergency services.
- You can delete your account from the app. Deletion anonymizes your profile in retained shared message history; it does not erase the other participant's copy of messages.
1. Agreement and the Service
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Vishal Sharma, operating as Oursi ("Oursi," "we," "us," or "our"). They govern your access to and use of the Oursi Android application and related services (the "Service").
By creating an account, signing in, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy, which explains how we process personal information. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
Oursi enables authenticated users to discover another user only by an exact username, exchange connection requests, and communicate through separate one-to-one text conversations after a connection is accepted. Features may vary by app version, region, device, and availability. The Service is not a public forum, contact-discovery service, social network, or emergency service.
2. Eligibility
The Service is offered only in India. You must be at least 13 years old and be legally able to enter into these Terms. If you are 13 to 17 years old, your parent or lawful guardian must consent to your use of the Service. Where applicable law requires verifiable parent or guardian consent, you may use Oursi only after that consent has been obtained. Until a compliant guardian-verification flow is available, a person under 18 must not create or use an Oursi account where such verification is required.
The Service is not directed to children under 13. Do not create or use an account if you do not meet the applicable age requirement. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has used the Service contrary to this section, contact us at vs.official.200985@gmail.com.
3. Accounts, usernames, and security
- Google sign-in. Google authentication is the supported sign-in method. You are responsible for your Google account, the device used to access Oursi, and activity conducted through your Oursi account.
- Account information. Provide accurate information and keep it current. We may use the Google information made available to us and generate an Oursi user ID, display alias, and unique username to operate the Service.
- Usernames and profile visibility. Your username must comply with Oursi's rules and may be changed where the feature is available. A person who knows and enters your exact username may see your generated display alias, username, and optional profile photo. Do not use a username that infringes another person's rights, impersonates someone, is misleading, or is unlawful.
- Active installation. Oursi supports one active installation per account as a product control. A newer accepted login may replace an older installation. This is best-effort session management, not a guarantee of cryptographic device revocation.
- Protect your account. Do not share credentials, tokens, or device access. Notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access. We may require reauthentication before sensitive actions, including account deletion.
4. Permission to use the Service
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable permission to download and use the Service for its intended personal, lawful purpose. This permission does not transfer ownership of the Service or any Oursi intellectual-property rights to you.
You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, circumvent security features, or otherwise exploit any portion of the Service except where a restriction is prohibited by applicable law. You may not use Oursi to build a competing service or to extract information from the Service through automated means.
5. Your content and messaging
You retain any ownership rights you have in text, profile information, and other content you submit to the Service ("User Content"). You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable only to our service providers, and transferable only as part of a permitted business transaction, license to host, store, reproduce, process, transmit, display to the intended recipient, secure, and otherwise use User Content solely as necessary to provide, maintain, protect, and improve the Service, comply with law, and enforce these Terms.
You represent and warrant that you have all rights and permissions needed to submit User Content and grant this license. You are responsible for your User Content and for the consequences of sending it. Other participants may retain, copy, forward outside Oursi, or otherwise use information you send to them; choose what you share carefully.
Messages are text-only in the current service design. We do not promise that messages will be delivered, read, preserved, or available at a particular time. Network conditions, device state, the recipient's settings, account status, and service availability can affect message delivery. Push notifications are best-effort alerts and do not prove message delivery or reading.
6. Acceptable use
You must not use the Service, attempt to use the Service, or help another person use the Service to:
- break the law, violate another person's rights, or violate applicable export, sanctions, privacy, intellectual-property, or consumer-protection laws;
- send unlawful, threatening, abusive, harassing, hateful, discriminatory, sexually exploitative, deceptive, fraudulent, defamatory, or otherwise harmful content;
- create, request, distribute, or facilitate child sexual abuse material or exploitation, or exploit a child in any way;
- impersonate another person or organization, misrepresent an affiliation, use a deceptive username, or attempt to obtain another person's credentials or private information;
- send spam, unsolicited bulk messages, chain messages, scams, malware, phishing, commercial solicitation, or other unwanted communications;
- probe, scan, test, bypass, disable, interfere with, or compromise the security, authentication, rate limits, authorization rules, or normal operation of the Service;
- use bots, scrapers, scripts, or other automated means to create accounts, search usernames, collect profiles, send messages, or access the Service except through an expressly authorized interface;
- collect, store, publish, or disclose another person's personal information without a lawful basis or their permission; or
- use the Service in a way that could damage, overburden, disrupt, or impair the Service or another person's use of it.
Oursi is not designed to monitor every message or mediate personal disputes. We may investigate suspected violations and take action that is reasonable and lawful, including restricting, suspending, or terminating access, preserving information, or reporting matters to appropriate authorities. We are not obligated to take any particular action or monitor User Content.
7. Availability, updates, and changes
We may update, modify, suspend, or discontinue all or part of the Service, including a feature, at any time. We will use reasonable efforts to provide advance notice of material adverse changes when practical and legally required, but we do not guarantee that any feature will always be available, compatible, or error-free.
Updates may be necessary for security, legal compliance, or continued operation. You may need to install updates to continue using the Service. We may use reasonable maintenance, backup, security, and operational measures, but you should keep copies of information that is important to you outside of Oursi.
8. Suspension, termination, and account deletion
You may stop using the Service at any time. You can request deletion through Settings → Account Settings → Delete Account. Deletion requires recent Google reauthentication and begins a trusted, retry-safe server workflow. The workflow removes or disables private account data and anonymizes your identity in shared history as described in the Privacy Policy.
Deleting your account does not delete messages from the other participant's retained conversation history, and it does not undo information already copied or shared outside the Service. If you cannot access the app, request deletion at vs.official.200985@gmail.com.
We may suspend or terminate your access, or remove a username or content where reasonably necessary to protect users or the Service, investigate or prevent abuse, comply with law or legal process, enforce these Terms, address a security risk, or where you materially breach these Terms. Where practical and permitted by law, we will provide notice of the action and available review options. Sections that by their nature should survive termination, including those relating to User Content, intellectual property, disclaimers, liability, indemnity, disputes, and general terms, will survive.
9. Third-party services
The Service relies on third-party services, including Google Sign-In and Firebase. Your use of those services may be subject to the third party's terms and privacy policy. We do not control third-party services and are not responsible for their content, availability, or independent practices. See our Privacy Policy for details about how Oursi uses Google and Firebase services.
The Service may also use operating-system services, such as notification delivery, and may open links in a browser. We do not endorse third-party websites or assume responsibility for them merely because they are linked from the Service.
10. Our intellectual property and feedback
The Service, including its software, design, branding, text, graphics, and other materials, is owned by or licensed to Oursi and is protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. Except for the limited permission in Section 4, these Terms grant no rights in the Service or Oursi's trademarks, logos, or other proprietary materials.
If you send us ideas, suggestions, feedback, or other comments about the Service, you grant us a worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free right to use them without restriction or compensation, provided that we will not publicly identify you as the source without your permission.
11. Disclaimers
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE." OURSI DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, AVAILABILITY, SECURITY, AND UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE OPERATION.
We do not guarantee that the Service will meet your requirements; messages will be delivered, received, read, or retained; data will never be lost; another user is who they claim to be; or the Service will be secure from every threat. You use the Service and interact with other users at your own risk. Nothing in these Terms excludes a warranty or right that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Not for emergencies. Do not use Oursi to contact emergency services, seek urgent assistance, or transmit information where delay, loss, interception, or non-delivery could cause harm. Use your local emergency number or an appropriate professional service instead.
12. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OURSI AND ITS AFFILIATES, LICENSORS, SERVICE PROVIDERS, OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, GOODWILL, DATA, USE, OR BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THE SERVICE OR THESE TERMS, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OURSI'S TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE OR THESE TERMS WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO OURSI FOR THE SERVICE IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO LIABILITY, OR (B) [APPROVED LIABILITY FLOOR IN LOCAL CURRENCY]. Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability that cannot be limited or excluded under applicable law, including liability for fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, or intentional misconduct where such limitation is prohibited.
13. Indemnity
To the extent permitted by law, you will defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Oursi and its affiliates, licensors, service providers, officers, directors, employees, and agents from claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your User Content, your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of another person's rights. We will give you prompt notice of a claim where required by law, and you may not settle a claim in a way that imposes liability or obligations on us without our written consent.
14. Governing law and disputes
These Terms and any non-contractual obligations arising from or related to them are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where mandatory law provides otherwise.
Subject to any mandatory consumer-protection law, the courts located in Hamirpur, Himachal Pradesh, India have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes arising from or related to these Terms or the Service. Before filing a claim, you agree to contact us at vs.official.200985@gmail.com and give us a reasonable opportunity to resolve the matter. Nothing in this section prevents either party from seeking urgent injunctive or equitable relief where appropriate.
15. General terms and contact
- Consumer rights. If you are a consumer, you may have mandatory legal rights that these Terms cannot limit. These Terms do not affect those rights.
- Changes to these Terms. We may update these Terms for legal, security, operational, or feature reasons. We will post the revised version with a new effective date and give additional notice or seek consent where required. Continued use after the revised Terms take effect means you accept them, except where law requires another form of consent.
- Entire agreement. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and Oursi about the Service, except for any additional terms you expressly agree to.
- Severability and waiver. If a provision is unenforceable, it will be enforced to the maximum lawful extent and the remaining provisions remain in effect. A failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver.
- Assignment. You may not assign these Terms without our consent. We may assign our rights and obligations in connection with a merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets, subject to applicable law.

Service boundaries reflected in these Terms
Oursi's Android-first design supports Google authentication, exact-username lookup, accepted one-to-one text messaging, local-first cached data, read/delivery status, short-lived typing state, and privacy-aware notifications. It excludes public directories, contact matching, advertising, behavioral analytics, group chat, media messages, calls, user search by name or email, and end-to-end encryption. These Terms do not promise unimplemented or unavailable features.
